Storage unit moratorium

A resident urged the Planning Committee to consider a moratorium on self-storage units in the city, prompting wide-ranging committee discussion.

Wertheimer, who helped defeat the South Main Street storage proposal at the zoning board, demanded a one-year moratorium on storage facilities, citing nine existing facilities with about 500 empty units, and warned he would pursue a ballot initiative or litigation if council doesn't act. He also pressed for cleanup of the corner of Main and Magua.
